?Tagore in Spain? presented by Indo-Latin American Cultural Initiative (ILACI) in collaboration with Whistling Woods International (WWI) - Business

'Tagore in Spain' presented by Indo-Latin American Cultural Initiative (ILACI) in collaboration with Whistling Woods International (WWI) ~'Rethinking Tagore' book launched in Delhi and 'Tagore in Spain' festival starting September 27th to Oct 4th, 2011 announced ~Mumbai, September, 2011: Long forgotten by us, but not all of us, Indranil Chakravarty pens Rabindranath Tagore in his book, "Rethinking Tagore" - co-edited by Prof. S.P. Ganguly, ex-Chairperson of Spanish Studies at JNU, New Delhi. Indranil, a Professor of Film Appreciation at Whistling Woods International (WWI), an Institute for Film, TV, Animation and Media Arts in Mumbai, is also the Founder director of ILACI (Indo-Latin American Cultural Initiative). The multi-talented man is now all set to promote his book on Tagore, by organizing a two day event each in three Spanish cities namely Salamanca, Barcelona and Valladolid. The event has been conceived and directed by Indranil Chakravarty along with a representat ive in Spain.The volume, a tribute to the poet on his 150th birth anniversary, was recently released at the Instituto Cervantes, New Delhi. It is collaboration between the Embassy of Spain, the Spanish Cultural Centre and the Sahitya Akademi. At the launch, the book was called "A great collector's item" by Mr. Oscar Pujol, Director of Instituto Cervantes.While the whole Western world has now forgotten him, Tagore is still hugely popular among Spanish-speaking people. WWI is proud to showcase the book, "Rethinking Tagore" in Spain and in India. Indranil and WWI, commemorate the writer on his 150th Anniversary by conducting the event, "Tagore in Spain" from Sept 27 to Oct 4, 2011 in Spain. The event is expected to be attended by esteemed and prominent guests like William Radice, S. P. Ganguly, Sol Arguello Scriba, Prabodh Parikh and some more dignitaries from the field of cinema, classical dance and drama and professors on the same.Indranil Chakravarty shares, "This book is an attempt to revive and deepen the love that has existed between the Spanish world and India through a common engagement on Tagore. For the first time in history, Sahitya Akademi has supported a book in foreign language and I really appreciate it. 'Tagore in Spain' is the biggest Indian cultural event to happen in Spain." The huge cultural road-show involves top universities and cultural institutions, with participants from India, Spain, USA, UK and Latin America. The alliance between Indranil and WWI focuses on targeting the youth by contemporizing Tagore's image.Meghna Ghai, President, Whistling Woods International says, "WWI is very excited and is delighted to support Indranil in his effort to create a platform for leading international experts and major scholars to share their thoughts on theatre, art & cinema. The prestigious event will WWI associate with many International organisations. The classic festival, "Tagore in Spain" also includes 4 Concerts i.e. Tagore's music, Cuban rock with Tagore's lyrics, Tagore on the classical Latin guitar and Dance Lec-dem: Dancing with Tagore; alongwith seminars, lectures, exhibitions, book publication and film screenings. A treat for the students of various universities in Spain, WWI is looking forward to encourage them into the film and production industry. In addition to the above events, there would be an exhibition of all 'Tagore titles in Spanish' and a digital exhibition of 'Tagore's paintings' on a LCD screen. There will be screening of films like 'The Mahatma and the Poet', 'Noukadubi' / 'El Naufragio' by Rituparno Ghosh with Spanish subtitles based on Tagore's novel. WWI attempts to inspire youth and the veterans from various fields and is more than happy to have Indranil Chakravarty, as part of their institute.
