The classic rock look with tones that match is found in the BC Rich Mockingbird guitar. Since the 50's most guitar shapes are mere variations of the time honored Stratocaster and Les Paul designs. When it comes to guitar body shapes most guitar players are very conservative which makes it hard for new designs to make a mark in the music world. One guitar maker was able to make a splash and change the shape of the guitar for ever. Bernardo Chavez Rico who is know as BC Rich is the founder of BC Rich guitars and created such well known rock guitars like the Bich and the Warlock. The Mocking bird was also among his first models and become on of the companys most known and loved guitars.
The BC Rich has a mahogany body wood with maple neck and 24 fret ebony fretboard. The scale length is 24 5/8 with a 43mm nut width. Two bonlume controls and Rockfield pickups are standard you also get one tone control and a 3 way switch and the bridge is a tune o matic with stop tailpiece. The Mockingbird was made by hand in Rico's shop as where most of BC Rich guitars got their start. Today they are mass produced to high standers which explains why they are such an inexpensive guitar. The guitar gets its solid satin and tone from the renowned BC Rich neck-through construction.
The ebony fretboard is sleek and fast, which makes the Mockingbird well-suited for rock and metal styles. The 24 jumbo frets were well rounded, particularly for an import guitar. The Rockfield pickups are a nice addition, with smooth, creamy sounds, though players wanting high gain pickups may still feel the need to swap the stock Rockfields with Duncan or Dimarzio replacements. If you dig more classic rock or metal tones, though, the Rockfields are more than adequate. The BC Rich Mockingbird has a classic rock look with all the sounds to match. You will find that the action and fit are very nicely done and the stock hardware is solid and tough. This BC Rich Guitar is a great way to rock!
When selecting a new instrument to become your baby, you need to really think about the history of the manufacturer. Have they been creating bass guitars for a long time or did they just fall off the bus. B.C. rich has been making bass guitars for over forty years. In fact they recently celebrated their 40 year anniversary. That is a huge accomplishment. With this type of experience you know that they have worked out all of the kinks and have mastered creating a beautiful instrument.
