The Four Types of Acoustic Guitars - Entertainment - Music

Guitars are one of the most played instruments in the world. For one, it is easy to learn. Once you know how to play the guitar, you can carry it around with you during parties, gigs and even while camping. It can liven up any moment. It is a portable instrument that can carry a song even if there are no other instruments playing with it. You simply cannot say the same for drums, cymbals and flutes.

Acoustic guitar is the most basic stringed instrument. Every guitar player, whether bass or electric, started from playing the acoustic guitar. It is usually made out of wood and it is available in different sizes, depending on the preference of the guitar player.

Adults play the normal size of the guitar. For teenagers, there are acoustic guitars that are built the size of the normal ones. As for kids, there are size of the normal guitars that are also available in the market.

There are four types of acoustic guitars and all of which do not need to be connected to a source of power in order to function. For this reason, this is the musical instrument of choice whenever friends and family gather during parties, picnics and camping trips.

The first of the four types of acoustic guitars is the flamenco acoustic guitar. It is very similar to the classical acoustic guitar although it is a bit slimmer. This guitar is solely used for Flamenco music. It produces the crispiest sound among all four types of acoustic guitars.

Next in line is the classical acoustic guitar. This guitar is usually played sitting down but it can also be played standing up supported by the guitar strap. The strumming of this guitar needs the use of the fingers or the fingernails instead of using the plectrum.

The third type is known as the 12 strings acoustic guitar. As the name suggest, instead of having the usually 6 string, this acoustic guitar has 12 strings. The strings are more varied in tone so the sound this guitar produces is richer. The most astounding feature of this guitar is that it has a natural chorus due to the defined yet subtle differences of string timbre.

Lastly, you have the resonator acoustic guitar. The three types of acoustic guitars mentioned earlier uses wooden soundboard. This one uses metal cones to produce the sound. It is the preferred guitar of blues guitarists.
